It's natural to be skeptical of anything you see on Facebook on April Fools Day, but with temperatures heading toward 80º this weekend our friends at Roaring Springs felt like now was the perfect time to announce their opening date for 2021. Weather permitting, Roaring Springs will open on Saturday, May 8. The date lines up with the planned pre-pandemic opening dates in 2018 and 2019.

Roaring Springs continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation in the Treasure Valley and follow appropriate safety guidelines, much like they did in 2020. One of the unique layers of protection that the waterpark can offer guests is the UV filter they had installed in 2018. The filter reaches every drop of water in the park and is meant to disrupt the genetic material of viruses, killing or inactivating them completely.

So what about other public pools? According to Meridian Pool's website, they hope to start hosting open swim on Saturday, June 26. Their 2021 COVID safety plan will limit capacity to the first 150 people through the door.

Folks in Boise won't be so lucky. The City of Boise's website states that they're keeping all of their outdoor pools closed in 2021. That means no aquatics programs, swimming lessons or swim team for a second year in a row.

Over in Nampa, they're planning to open both the Lakeview Water Park and Lincoln pool on May 29.
