This will be my first full winter living in the treasure valley so I have yet to experience Bogus Basin in its full winter glory. I am beyond excited to try the slopes for the first time this year. They are planning to open up on November 27th. Sooner, if there is a good early snowfall (its 2020, nothing is out of the question). For those of you who are Bogus Basin regulars in the winter months, there are a few great additions and updates and also a few  adjustments for this year.

First off, they have been busy this summer. They now have twice the number of runs and now are able to do twice the snowmaking. Great for social distancing and just more adventure opportunities. They are even expanding the night ski hours from 3pm to 10pm.

The Simplot Lodge got itself all fancy and fresh with new floors and new paint. Bogus Basin Recreation also added four additional large tents, near the lodges, providing 8,000 additional square feet of covered seating. They also added a lot of additional restrooms around. They will be limiting the number of people indoors, including the tents. They will be monitoring capacities constantly as well as having additional employees sanitize all day. It is important to note that this year no outside food or drinks are allowed anywhere inside, also including the tents. They are adding 4 more places to get their food or drink to limit lines. You cant bring your gear inside anywhere either, so plan on using your car as your home base where everything stays. They also need people to maintain social distancing with people not in your group. This could cause some longer waits at the chairlifts with more empty seats. Face coverings will be required when not skiing or riding, including getting in and out of the chairlift. They are encouraging regular hand sanitizing, they will most likely have sanitation stations all around.

The tubing hill is open this year but The Glade Runner Mountain Coaster is not. On weekends and holidays they may limit the day lift tickets if there are already tons of season pass holders there. If you buy online before hand you should be good though. According to the website, they will be checking capacity levels often to make sure people can keep a social distance.

The Downtown Sales Office opens this Wednesday, October 7th from 10a to 5p. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This year, they prefer to try and answer your questions by email: (info) or (pass) or phone (208-332-5162) to limit people coming in.

They are also upping their open communication with ongoing updates on social media (Facebook) (Instagram) (Twitter) and on their website. This year they are also adding a big electronic sign by the bottom of Bogus Basin Road that will give important updates.
