In case you weren't in the downtown Boise area today, there was a rowdy storm that disappeared almost as instantly as it arrived. The storm even brought some "graupel" to the area and has us wondering... what is the worst storm to ever strike Idaho?

Does Boise See A Lot Of Thunderstorms?

If you're expecting a thunderstorm at any point in the year, this is the season for it - but don't hold your breath.

According to an article from Yahoo, Boise misses out on the action thunderstorms bring due to Boise being in "the high desert," which dries out storms before they get to us.

It's one of the big reasons why some of us get excited when we see dark clouds rolling in the Treasure Valley with high winds.

Boise Gets Pounded On Monday Afternoon

According to the National Weather Service for Boise, thunderstorms entered Idaho with small hail in Nampa, graupel and rain in downtown Boise, and gusts of wind that reached up to 50 MPH... we even got lightning!

Thankfully, the storm didn't cause any serious damage to the Boise area, but that's not to say there haven't been some brutal storms that hit Idaho.
