The eroding banks of River Road have gotten to the point of no return.  All traffic is being directed towards detours.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Department has shut down River Road between Channel Road and West Plymouth Street for almost a mile.

The fast moving, high flowing Boise River has washed away the river banks enough to where it's effecting the roads in a very dangerous way.  Crews will first try to shore up the riverbank and then will get into road repairs.  No word yet on how long the project will take and to what extent the damage is.  We'll keep you posted.
