Crews are on the scene of a grass fire near the Boise Airport. Will it affect your flight?

Not likely. The two-acre grass fire reportedly broke out about 3 p.m.The airport fire crew is on the scene along with Gowen Field fire responders. A report on idahonews.com says the fire is still active but no structures have been damaged so far.

There are no reports of this fire affecting flights at this time, but you may see an increase in traffic around the airport until they get the blaze out.

The Boise Airport just made headlines in a much more positive way today. They've been named "Airport of the Year" by the Air Line Pilots Association yearly air safety forum in Washington D.C.

Feedback from pilots and other aviation professionals, plus their track record of making safety a top priority earned the Boise Airport the honor.

An article on KTVB also notes that the Boise Airport is expected to grow to a mid-sized airport within a few years due to the expansive growth in the Treasure Valley. The expansion would include an additional concourse and two more parking garages.

Hopefully, crews will be able to get the grass fire out quickly this afternoon and everything around the airport will return to normal.
