Another day, another recall and this time we're looking at a popular vegetable that's being recalled across the country - 26 states to be exact.

The culprit? Cucumbers.

"Throw them out NOW!"

SunFed Produce LLC or "SunFed" is putting out a recall on all sizes of fresh cucumbers according to a press release. Apparently, these infected cucumbers sold by SunFed and other importers were shipped to twenty six different states including California, Idaho, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

Here's what's scary - that's just the states that SunFed is aware of. There could be other states that have not yet reported infected cucumbers.

“As soon as we learned of this issue, we immediately acted to protect consumers. We are working closely with authorities and the implicated ranch to determine the possible cause,” said Craig Slate, President at SunFed in their official press release.

“Here at SunFed, food safety and consumer health and wellness have been our priorities for more than 30 years. We require all of our growers to strictly comply with the FDA food safety requirements.”

What are the cucumbers infected with?

Apparently, these cucumbers are infected with salmonella which can cause some serious issues for some and for younger, older, or even immunocompromised individuals, fatal infections.

SunFed included more scary details about the effects of salmonella including the "rare circumstance when infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis."

They report that "symptoms of salmonellosis usually start 6 hours to 6 days after infection and last 4 to 7 days."

The sticker attached to the cucumbers has a PLU sticker with "SunFed" and "#4062."
