"It's the most magical time of the year"

Er, well that is saying a lot for 2020. Even though plans and events have been canceled left and right, The Downtown Boise Association is doing their best to have a few fun and festive events for the Treasure Valley. If you need a little extra cheer this year, like we all do, take a look below and make some new memories.

The first event is Winter Windows. What a wonderful way to bring some joy and economic help to our local business owners. Downtown businesses are encouraging a jump on holiday shopping and encouraging people to keep it local. Businesses will unveil their festive windows and light displays for the first time on Friday, Nov. 27 and they will stay through December. Mayor McLean is getting into the spirit with a live social media event from a secret location.  As you stroll, shop and enjoy you can even vote for your favorite window display using QR codes in the participating windows. Every vote automatically enters you in a drawing for a $50 Downtown Boise Gift card. There are 3 gift card prizes available.

Another event is the Small Business Weekend! This one goes from, Friday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Nov. 29 and is to encourage the public to shop small and local. According to a spokesperson for the event, "Participating businesses will be hosting specials for the weekend and are ready to welcome the public in accordance with current health and safety guidelines."

While shopping in person or buying online on said dates, shoppers can get their Shopping Passport stamped from participating businesses. If you get at least 6 stamps, turn your passport into Rediscovered Bookshop by closing time on Sunday, Nov. 29 to be entered to win $100 Downtown Boise Gift Card. There are also 3 of these prizes available.

Last but not least, the Association is planning City Santa on Saturdays - Dec. 5, 12 and 19. This year will be virtual with 15-minute time slots available from 12-4.  Find out more and register here....  A community sing-along is happening on Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. Up to 500 families can sign up and it is led by Santa.

Also for the little ones - Have the kiddos drop a letter to Santa at the Downtown D.L. Evans branch on 9th and Main. Look for Santa’s mailbox and Happy Holidays!!!
