Girl Talk: Should She Pay for Half of Her Ring?

Bridgette in Kuna is being asked to pay for half her engagement ring?!! Do you think she should? Here's their situation.

Dear Rick and Carly, 

My boyfriend and I got into a huge fight recently after her said I should pay for half of my engagement ring. He said when married couples get together they split everything 50/50. I am very traditional and believe the man should pay for the entire cost of the engagement ring. My boyfriend disagrees and says women wan to be equals so they should be responsible for half the the cost of the engagement ring. Who's right, me or him?!
